Faith Presbyterian Church located minutes west of the Purdue University Campus in West Lafayette Indiana, due to the pending retirement of their Pastor is searching for a dynamic spiritual and administrative church leader to assume the pastoral role on July 1, 2018.

We believe “It is God through the Holy Spirit who calls persons to office in the Church and through prayer by the congregation and the Search Committee, God will send the right person to become the new Pastor of our local church.”

We believe that people who worship here would say that we are very much a church family. We are small enough for intimacy and large enough to provide a wide range of ministries. Job Description for the Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, West Lafayette, Indiana, 47906

With the retirement of the Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, we believe “It is God through the Holy Spirit who calls persons to office in the Church and through prayer by the congregation and the Search Committee, God will send the right person to become the new Pastor of our local church.”

The Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church will be expected to-

Provide Spiritual Leadership for Christian Growth and Discipleship in the Church:

• Lead the congregation in Bible-based worship services in the Reformed tradition and the administration of the sacraments.
• Preach “scripturally sound”, “theologically informed” sermons, relevant to present day discipleship in a style and subject matter commensurate with a university community.
• Prepare and deliver children’s sermons as a part of the worship service.
• Provide pastoral care and visitation for the congregation and those who seek comfort and guidance through the church.
• Lead and encourage the congregation in outreach to local missions and evangelism to the community.
• Be available to members and non-members for counseling and spiritual growth.
• Live a Christian life by example.
• Encourage discipleship and the discernment of gifts, leading to individual spiritual growth.

Provide Administrative Leadership:

• Plan and lead a program that encourages Christian growth and member involvement.
• Serve as moderator of the Session and provide administrative leadership and guidance to the Session, Deacons and committees.
• Supervise church personnel and serve as the administrator of the church.
• Train new elders and deacons.
• Officiate at weddings and funerals as requested.

The Pastor called to this position will be expected to have the following qualifications and experience:

• Outstanding preaching skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Active listening skills.
• Superior interpersonal skills within a multi-generational congregation in a university setting.
• Academic credentials and experience needed to be ordained in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
• Experience in a variety of worship formats.
• Previous Pastoral experience required.
